COMPUTER IMAGERY
Golf Course Architecture Through Innovation

svcc-2s.jpg (17731 bytes) The Existing Scene
Mary Armstrong, LLC Manager of Armstrong Golf Architects, LLC, has developed a system of software based image editing to enable nondesigners to share in her vision of the changes proposed for their course. As shown here for Spring Valley Country Club in Sharon, MA, existing scenes are scanned into the computer. Below, the proposed changes are "sketched" on to the digital photo.

The Designed Improvements
The "Existing" and "Proposed" digital photos are then printed for review with the Greens Committee or other authorizing entity. Instructions shown on the photo clarify the architect's intent for the contractor as well.

Aside from the obvious benefits, this method allows the architect to create a record of the design without expensive topographic surveys and engineering. Although it is not right for all situations, it is a wonderful tool for projects such as Bunker Renovations.
